A Few Good Resources on Birth Control

From time to time I thought it would be fun to pass along lists of resources I've benefited from on various topics. Today's topic is: Birth Control.

It's a touchy and very personal topic, but one that every couple has to think through, talk about, and pray over. We are accountable before God for the decisions we make, and I hope that the goal for all of us is to be discerning, conscientious, and wise. Attitude is also of fundamental importance, we must view children as a blessing (no matter what!), not a burden. Here are a few good resources that helped my husband and I with our decision process.

Books:

The Contraception Guidebook: Options, Risks, and Answers for Christian Couples by William R. Cutrer and Sandra L. Glahn. A Christian Doctor and Nurse team up to discuss every. single. birth control option out there; the pros and cons, ethical issues, and anything else you could possibly want to know. Very informative, from both a medical and Christian stand point.

Natural Birth Control Made Simple by Barbara Kass-Annese and Hal C. Danzer. Also written by a Doctor and Nurse team. While my husband and I have chosen more natural methods of birth control, I believe that this book should be read by every woman, as it gives valuable insights into how her body works. This can be useful for preventing conception, attempting conception, and just a general better understanding of the female body. Many of my friends also recommend Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler.

Online Sermons/Audio:

"Birth Control" by Mark Driscoll. Humorous and very enlightening.

"Is it wrong to use birth control?" Ask Pastor John Piper.
