February Goal Update

Checking in with 3in30 today to report how I've tracked with February's three goals.

Goal #1: Read six books. I am a bit behind. I've finished Damsel's in Distress, Real Marriage, and Organized Simplicity (click to read my reviews). The Office of Assertion is about half way done, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe is not begun (it is my treat for when I'm done with the others), and though I've been reading Knowing God, I have a feeling this is the one book I might not finish. The first half of the month I must confess was lazily spent browsing the internet instead of reading. I'm trying to discipline myself in this area, and hope to do much better next month!

Goal #2: Organize the office. If you haven't seen my before pics, please take a look! It might encourage you to know that you aren't as big of a slob :). Praise the Lord, it is finished! I'll post pics soon. The only trouble is all of the stuff we purged for an upcoming garage sale is now sitting in piles in my guest bedroom. I'm going to be devoting my 15 minutes a day for the rest of the month to pricing items and packing them neatly away in stacked boxes :).

Goal #3: Develop a morning routine. This goal has majorly flopped. I want to do so much in the morning; exercise, shower, read and memorize Scripture, blog... yet I'm finding myself still in pajamas at noon a lot of days. Is it impossible to have most of this done and be dressed by nine??? We shall see....

How are you doing on your goals this month?

  1. Thankfully with God every day is a new beginning. I encouraging to keep striving for what you know is best. Some days it works, some days it doesn't. After 20 years of marriage I have conquered only some of these...but God is good.

  2. I have recently simplified my morning routine. My husband wisely admonished me that I was planning too much and then not following through. I now do my quiet time during my daughter's afternoon nap. I am learning to feel accomplished if I can serve breakfast, shower, dress and do one chore by lunch! :)

    1. Praise God for wise husbands :). I like your goals, simple and doable. I try to multitask as well, reading my Bible while nursing...

  3. The wonderful thing about this is that your goals can float into the next month, it is not a failure if you dont complete a task, but a journey to continue.

For the morning routine, I to often cannot get dressed by 11, not for lack of trying, getting my bible reading and exersizing done, breakfast for all, straighten up the kitchen and helping the 3 start their academic assignments, I often try to grab a shower as they are settling in.

I dare not look at your office pictures for then I shall feel to pressed to get mine done :)

    Keep moving forward...

    1. Thank you Jodie! Such true words :). Oh I know the feeling well, but I don't have the excuse you do with more than one child and homeschooling. I aspire to your accomplishments!!!

  4. Way to go on your office!! I bet that feels great!!

Being no where close to a morning person, I have a terrible time getting out of my jammies before noon.
I often clean and do whatever needs done in them. :)
Once I am moving around I wake up faster but boy oh boy those mornings are hard.

  5. Six books in one month - wow! Kudos to you...I know you said you were behind on this goal, but I'm lucky to finish one book in a month so I am in awe at your attempt.

I just did a post on routines earlier in the week...bottom line - do what works for you and your family. :)

    1. Thanks Deanna :). I'm just in a season of life that allows significant reading time (only one baby, and she is still eating every 2-3 hours during the day, so feeding time is reading time).

Thanks for the encouragement. Routines have to be fluid and flexible I suppose as we go through different phases :).
