Refreshing My Towels

When I started making my own laundry detergent, I noticed that my towels got funky smelling quickly. Though I switched back to store-bought, the smell has unfortunately lingered. So I was super excited when I saw this pin that boasted clean, stink-free towels.

It's a simple concept. Detergent builds up a residue on our towels, causing them to absorb less efficiently and to get stinky. By stripping them with first vinegar, and then baking soda {combined with very hot water}, you can remove the build-up and return them to a purer state.

I gave it a spin {tee hee}, and can I tell you...

...I'm not sure if it worked? I think my towels are less stinky... but is that just because I want this to work? Or did it actually make a difference?

I'm not sure if the water in my washing machine was hot enough. Also, should I run the towels through with regular soap {to get them clean initially} before stripping them? I just don't know.

My conclusion: You have to try somethings more than once to decide if they work for you {or not}. I'll attempt this again in the near future and see if it really is worth the time and effort.

Have you ever tried stripping your towels to refresh them? Did it work? Do you have any advice for me on my next attempt?
